Why don't you mow the grass?
The environmentally conscious design of the Bush Center building and grounds reflects President and Mrs. Bush’s long-standing commitment to conservation. The nine acres of lawn at the Bush Center are a mixture of native short prairie grasses that are drought tolerant, need little mowing, and require minimal fertilization and water. The mix was developed through years of research and trials by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center with the goal of demonstrating a viable alternative to typical cultivated turf. This is the first large-scale implementation of this seed mix. LEARN MORE.
What is the National Archives?
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the nation's record keeper. Of all documents and materials created in the course of the U.S. Federal government conducting business, only about 3% are so important for legal or historical reasons that they are kept forever. These valuable records are preserved and are available to you, whether you want to see if they contain clues about your family’s history, need to prove a veteran’s military service, or are researching an historical topic that interests you.
