Visitor Tips

For exhibit information or assistance, ask one of our friendly and knowledgeable Docents. These volunteer guides can be identified
by their navy blazers.

  • Weekday afternoons are the least crowded.
  • The Museum and the Research Room are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
  • The parking lot is located across from the Museum entrance on SMU Boulevard.
  • Allow at least 1½ hours to tour the Museum so schedule your arrival accordingly.
  • Be prepared for the Security Check. All visitors must pass through a security check with a metal detector.
  • View the Group Visits page for group deals and discounts.
  • Free admission is available to school groups if the School Field Trip has been scheduled through our Visitor Services at least one month in advance.
  • Take advantage of our Museum Docents. These volunteer guides are more than willing to share their extensive knowledge of U.S. history and the Presidency.
  • If the weather is nice, enjoy the Native Texas Park behind the Bush Center. This 15-acre park is free and open to the public every day of the year, from sunrise to sunset. Free guided tours are offered in the spring and fall.
  • If you plan to visit other Presidential Libraries, consider purchasing a Presidential Libraries Passport as a unique souvenir.
